Hannah Smith
Collaborative PIano, Logistics
All of Hannah Smith’s early childhood memories include the piano. She began formal lessons at the age of 4 and within 7 years of study, won numerous awards including First Prize at the Young Keyboard Artists Association International Piano Competition, held in California. Hannah’s early teenaged years continued intensely in her musical education which resulted in major prizes at the Canadian Music Competition, the top piano mark in Alberta for her Royal Conservatory of Music ARCT Diploma and First Prize at the Lorraine Downey National Music Competition. A student of Vera Shean and then Dr. Lejano, she also had the privilege of studying at various summer music camps including the Gnessin Institute in Moscow.
While studying Geology at the University of Alberta she maintained a small teaching studio for young children and performing regularly as a collaborative artist. In the last ten years, Hannah moved to Manitoba with her husband and 3 musical children where she has become an advocate for Classical music and high-level musical education. She has served on many boards including Virtuosi Concerts and the Women’s Committee of the WSO and is currently involved with the Manitoba Strings Academy. She maintains a piano teaching studio in Portage la Prairie and is active as a collaborative artist, particularly for string students. In her spare time, she enjoys geeking out over espresso, playing backyard hockey and practicing for her Green Belt in TaeKwonDo.
Rosamunde is excited to welcome Hannah as one of our collaborative pianists and also as our logistics manager for the 2022 session! If you have a question about the schedule on-site, Hannah will be one of the people directing our students!
