Peek-a-Rosie students will experience a multi-faceted introduction to music with an emphasis on the exploration of stringed instruments (violin & cello). Both those who are just beginning formal instrument study and those with no prior musical experience are welcome to participate. Students will be immersed in music games and activities while surrounded by the sounds of Rosamunde’s advanced string students and faculty. This program is a wonderful opportunity to pique young children’s interest in stringed instruments or to simply experience the joy of musical creativity and participation. A short final concert will be held on August 15th.
All students gain free admission to Rosamunde Festival Faculty concerts.
The Peek-a-Rosie experience will include:
- An immersion in music through singing and movement; students will interact with songs and chants in a variety of tonalities and meters, expanding their music listening vocabulary
- An interaction with musical rhythm through movement
- Creatively exploring musical elements and collaborative music composition
- An introduction to the violin, cello and piano instruments, through interaction with advanced student string players as well as trying out the instruments themselves
