One of Canada’s most versatile violinists, Chris Anstey is a native of St. John’s, Newfoundland. He plays first violin with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared as soloist with the WSO, Newfoundland Symphony, Etobicoke Philharmonic, and Brandon Chamber Players. A strong supporter of traditional music, Chris was a four-time finalist at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships in Ottawa. He can also be heard on recordings by The Ennis Sisters, Royal Canoe, Katherine Penfold, and Cara Luft. Chris maintains an active teaching studio, has taught at the University of Manitoba, and is a string mentor for the University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra and Winnipeg Youth Orchestras.
